ECO Window Systems Window Installation: The Fort Myers Owner’s Guide

We stock and install ECO Window Systems-compatible window installation hardware and components for Fort Myers homeowners, with most parts priced between $85 and $285 installed depending on the window line and what failed. If the part is on our truck, we can typically have it replaced the same day we look at the window. Most owners discover a problem with their ECO window installation the way you’d expect: a sash starts dragging, a lock stops catching, or a corner joint opens up just enough to let Southwest Florida humidity into the frame.

TruePane Windows & Doors is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with ECO Window Systems, but we work on their windows regularly and keep common replacement parts in inventory. Dale Kessler built this company around one rule: if the pane is not true, the job is not done. That applies to a full window replacement and to the smallest balance or roller swap.

Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To

ECO Window Systems manufactures single-hung, horizontal roller, and fixed-picture windows in aluminum and vinyl frames, with the majority of Fort Myers stock being impact-rated aluminum lines built for coastal exposure. The part you need depends on the window style, and that’s where owners get stuck. A single-hung balance cartridge looks nothing like a horizontal roller carriage, and pulling the wrong one off a shelf wastes a trip.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha we see constantly: ECO aluminum single-hung windows built before roughly 2016 use a block-and-tackle balance with a 15-pound and a 9/16-inch shoe, while later runs switched to a constant-force coil balance that mounts differently. Same window brand, same general opening size, two different parts. We match by the stamping on the metal shoe or the coil housing, not by the window’s overall dimensions. If the stamping is worn off, we measure the balance channel and match the weight rating based on sash weight plus glass package.

For the hardware itself, we stock OEM ECO Window Systems parts where the manufacturer still supplies them. Where ECO has discontinued a line or the lead time runs long, we carry quality aftermarket equivalents that match the original footprint and load rating. If you’d rather stay strictly OEM, we’ll tell you up front and order it, but we won’t install a part we would not put in our own window.

Signs Your ECO Window Systems Window Installation Is Failing

  • The sash drops or slams when you let go. This is a failed balance on a single-hung. The coil or block-and-tackle has lost tension, and the window now weighs more than the balance can hold. Left alone, the sash eventually cracks a corner weld or damages the frame track.
  • The window binds or scrapes on one side. On horizontal rollers, this is almost always a worn roller carriage or a track that’s drifted out of square. Fort Myers homes settle, and a frame that shifts even an eighth of an inch turns a smooth slide into a fight.
  • The lock no longer lines up or catches. ECO lock hardware is straightforward, but the keepers wear unevenly on high-use windows. When the striker and keeper drift apart, the window stops sealing at the meeting rail and you lose the weather barrier exactly where you need it most.
  • You feel air moving around the sash on a calm day. That’s the weatherstripping or pile seal compressing past its useful life. Salt air and humidity along the Caloosahatchee shorten the life of plush seal material dramatically compared to inland installs.
  • The window is harder to open after a storm or a pressure change. Impact-rated ECO frames can flex under wind load. If the frame is out of true, the hardware compensates until it can’t. We see this on west-facing Fort Myers elevations more than anywhere else in the county.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fort Myers, expect to pay between $85 and $285 installed for most ECO Window Systems hardware and component replacements on a single window. A balance replacement runs $85 to $150 per sash depending on the balance type. Roller carriages run $110 to $180 per window. Lock hardware and keepers fall between $85 and $125. Full weatherstripping and pile seal replacement on a single unit runs $125 to $225 because we pull the sash to do it right, not just tuck a strip in while the window is hung.

The range comes down to which ECO series you have, whether the part is OEM or discontinued, and how much frame adjustment the opening needs once we’re in it. You get a written line-item quote before any work starts, and that number does not change unless we find something structural and talk to you first. The work is covered by our 90-Day Done Right Promise, and both manufacturer warranty layers get registered in writing before the truck leaves your driveway. If it is not in writing, it is not a promise.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things on your own. Confirm which window series you have by looking at the corner label or the glass etching. Note whether the failure is on the left or right side, whether it happens in hot or cold weather, and whether the sash sits level in the frame. That information saves us time and saves you money on the visit.

What you should not attempt is pulling a balance cartridge or roller out of an ECO frame without knowing the release point. These are spring-loaded components under real tension. A balance that lets go at the wrong moment breaks fingers and cracks glass. We work on these every week, and even our lead techs respect the load on the older block-and-tackle units. If the window is fighting you, stop and call us at (239) 323-5522. The estimate is free, and we’ll be there when we say.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★

"Quote was the price, which after three other bids that grew legs was worth something. Double-hungs went in clean, they hauled the old ones, and the registration paperwork for the warranty came in the mail like they said."

DDorothy K.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."
