CGI Impact Windows in Fort Myers: What to Know First
We service, repair, and replace CGI impact windows across Fort Myers, and most CGI-specific work is diagnosed in one visit and completed within three to five business days once parts are in hand. If you’re looking for an independent CGI service provider who actually knows the product line, you’ve found one. We’re not a CGI dealer and we’re not affiliated with the manufacturer, but we work on their windows and doors constantly. Call (239) 323-5522 and a real person picks up. Always.
Not sure whether your sagging operator, fogged unit, or failed seal is a true repair issue or a full replacement? Dale Kessler and our crew have been pulling CGI units apart in Lee County long enough to tell you straight, usually over the phone, sometimes with a site visit. Either way, the estimate is free and the answer is honest.
How CGI Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
- Sentinel and Estate Series seal failures at the sill corner. In Fort Myers humidity, CGI’s double-hung and casement units can develop condensation or fogging at the lower corners before anywhere else. The cause is almost always a worn gasket or failed sealant bead at the glass-to-frame interface, not the glass itself. We pull the sash, clean the reglet, replace the gasket with an OEM-spec profile, and re-seal. No shortcut caulk.
- Hinged impact door sag on Estate and Targa series. CGI’s outswing impact doors are heavy. After ten or more years of daily use in a salty, humid climate, the hinges wear and the panel begins to drag or fail to latch. We replace hinge assemblies and re-square the panel so the locking hardware seats correctly. Most shops will shim the hinge and call it done. We don’t.
- Operator mechanism failures on casement and awning units. CGI’s crank and lever operators are generally solid, but the older operator arms can bind or strip when the sash gets even slightly out of true. We see this most often on West-facing installations in McGregor Boulevard corridor homes where the afternoon heat and UV attack the operator’s internal bushings. We rebuild or replace and reset the sash so the operator isn’t fighting the frame.
- Fogged-glass replacement where the frame is still sound. CGI’s impact glass is laminated and heavy, and once a unit fogs, the glass needs replacing, not drying. We order the exact replacement IGU, match the original thickness and tint, and set it correctly. Most Fort Myers companies will sell you a whole new window. If your frame is true, you don’t need one.
- Roller and track wear on CGI sliding glass doors. CGI sliders run on stainless steel rollers, but sand and salt grit work into the track and chew up the bearings. The door gets stiff, then starts hanging up. We clear the track, inspect the roller assemblies, and replace what’s worn before it scores the track itself.
Our CGI Impact Windows Process
- 1
You call (239) 323-5522. A live person answers, asks the right questions, and books a time. No menus, no callbacks.
- 2
We show up and diagnose. A background-checked, uniformed technician measures every opening twice, checks the reveal, and identifies the actual failure, not just the symptom.
- 3
We write the quote on paper, side by side. If a repair makes sense, we say so. If replacement is smarter long-term, we show you OEM and quality aftermarket options and exactly what each costs.
- 4
We do the work. CGI units get OEM-grade components wherever they matter, properly shimmed and sealed, with no off-brand parts that void your warranty.
- 5
We test and verify. Every repaired window is cycled, checked for draughts, and inspected for true. The lock, the sash, the seal. All of it.
- 6
We register the warranties in writing before the truck leaves. Both layers, manufacturer and workmanship, stated durations, on paper. If it’s not in writing, it’s not a promise.
What CGI Impact Windows Costs in Fort Myers
CGI repair and replacement pricing in Fort Myers depends on the failure and the model line. Here’s what we generally see:
- Single impact window glass replacement (fogged or cracked): $450 – $900 per unit, including glass, labor, and disposal
- Operator mechanism replacement on a casement or awning: $180 – $340 per window
- Weatherstripping and gasket replacement on a double-hung: $140 – $280 per opening
- Full-frame CGI replacement window installation: $1,100 – $2,400 per opening, depending on size, elevation, and mullion configuration
- Impact sliding door service (rollers, track, weather seal): $250 – $600, depending on whether we replace hardware or just restore alignment
What moves these numbers is the panel size, whether you have a mulched opening, and whether the original install was done right. A true frame and a properly flashed opening always costs less to repair. Call (239) 323-5522 for a free estimate on your specific unit.
Why Fort Myers Homeowners Call TruePane Windows & Doors for CGI Work
Because we’re still going to be here when the next question comes. TruePane Windows & Doors has been serving Lee County for over 42 years through the Kessler family’s glazing background, and Dale started this company in 2008 to fix a simple problem: homeowners were getting windows set out of true and watching manufacturers void warranties because installers cut corners nobody could see. We fixed that by making the standard explicit. Every job we do, CGI or another brand, comes with the 90-Day Done Right Promise and the Keystone Standard: both manufacturer warranty layers registered in writing before we leave the driveway. We install and service PGT, CWS, ES Windows, and ECO Window Systems too, so if your home mixes brands, one call covers all of it. And when you call, a person answers. Day or night.
FAQs
Yes. If the glass is fogged or condensation is trapped between the panes, we can replace the insulated glass unit without replacing the entire frame, as long as the frame itself is still sound. Call (239) 323-5522 and we’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a glass replacement or a full window job.
No, not if the repair is done correctly with OEM-grade components and proper installation methods. We never install parts that would compromise the original manufacturer’s warranty. If a repair is questionable, we’ll tell you in writing before we touch anything.
We keep common gaskets, operators, and rollers in stock, and we order model-specific components direct from our supply network with typical three-to-five-day turnaround. For older Sentinel and Estate units, we verify part numbers against your specific model and manufacturing date before ordering.
Generally, if the frame is still true and free of rot or corrosion, repair makes financial sense. If the frame is twisted, water-damaged, or was never installed correctly, replacement usually costs less in the long run. We’ll tell you straight, and show you the numbers both ways.
Most appointments are scheduled within a few days. If you have a failed latch, a window that won’t close, or a blown-out panel after a storm, call and we’ll get you on the schedule as a priority. For free estimates, call (239) 323-5522.
